An unusual 19th century cast iron fire basket of exceptional quality with applied armorials and a Latin motto which reads LUX TUA VIA MEA, or Thy Light is My Way. This motto is associated with the Blount family, and this fire basket was acquired from Mawley Hall in Shropshire, their family seat. Likely to have been made on the estate.English, c.1870.
