A well defined cast iron fireback with the double headed eagle looking to East and West. The symbolism is related to the Byzantine, the first Christian Church, founded by the Roman Emperor Constantine in Constantinople. A 19th century replica of a 17th-18th century original of the house of Habsburg Emperor Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, King of Aragon and Castile ( 1500 - 1558 ).
