Description

With fantastic colour and rich natural patina, this English walnut and oak back stool was made in c. 1660 by skilled hands and it retains all of the original timbers and original pegs.

Beautifully shaped and turned stretchers with squared knuckles to the front.

A very well made and completely solid chair by a provincial craftsman. Some of the inner faces of the timbers carry a layer of bark left on when the legs and stretchers were turned and carved.

Some old worm, long since dead, and some wear and losses to the base of the feet but nothing untoward or affecting use and the back stool is heavy, robust and completely usable with no weaknesses or movement.

A lovely chair with oodles or charm and the colour and patination are exceptional.

Max dimensions are:

36.5 inches high, 18.75 inches wide, height from floor to seat is 18 inches, depth from front to back of the chair is 17 inches.
I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.

I operate a full refund guarantee and am always happy to give free, honest and friendly advice.
