A good late 19th Century Satinwood and hand painted armchair by S.H Jewell stamped beneath. Beautiful painted details of flowers and cherubs.

S & H Jewell A fine quality cabinet maker who was established in 1830. They are recorded to have sold furniture at the Arts and Crafts home Standen House, East Grinstead, Sussex as stated on the receipt dated 1st May 1894. The company was founded in 1830 but there are not many records of their earlier pieces. They also restored early pieces of antique furniture and re sold them in their London shop. They used stamps in gilt metal and bone when selling their pieces.
