Description

An Arts and Crafts carved wood table made in Japan for Liberty & Co, c 1905. The tables were commissioned by Liberty as part of their exotic range of Japanese furniture.  They were hand carved by Japanese fishermen, made in numbered sections for easy packing and transportation, and assembled at the "Eastern Bazaar" in their Regent Street headquarters in London.  These tables were advertised as part of their "Hand carved and inlaid woodwork" range of goods in the Liberty & Co Yuletide gifts catalogue  (1905-1913).
