Description

A set of five Arts and Crafts oak dining chairs, designed by Scottish Architect E.A. Taylor, c1900s.  Made of oak,  split heart piercings to the top, upholstered seat.  In good original condition, structurally sound, green leather upholstery in good condition. 

Dimensions: H98cm, H45cm (to seat), W54cm, D47cm

E.A. Taylor was one of the leading Glasgow style designers, and a contemporary of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.  He was the head designer at Wylie and Lochhead, working alongside George Logan and John Ednie on many of the W&L designs during the height of that Glasgow period.  He was married to Jessie M. King, another leading light of the Glasgow School, and they went on to establish the Kirkcudbright style after the war.
