GENERAL CONDITION:

Some pile deterioration in borders and at edge. Interestingly this follows the line of black wools. Black wool deterioration is a good way to date a rug. Exposed to air, this colour dye deteriorates at the quickest rate but still takes over 100 years.

All our carpets are vintage and we endeavour to send out carpets which are visually clean looking. However depending on personal preference you may want to have them cleaned regardless. Some may have an occasional spot mark which usually cleans out with a good household spot cleaner. Or rug doctors which can be easily hired are very effective

A lovely old Turkish Kayseri in fine detail and knotted finely.

Uses natural vegetable dyes. Interestingly vegetable dyes deteriorate the pile at different rates dependent on colour after long time air exposure. This can help date rugs. Darker colours deteriorate first, and the pile lowers quicker and brighter colours maintain a higher pile for a longer period.

The carpet is 100% pure wool pile very durable and suitable for heavy traffic
