Description

A small framed ink and watercolour paining titled 'Winter Trees 3' by Ian Pethers RMS SBA (Royal Society of Miniature Painters & Society of Botanical Artists), signed bottom right by the artist, circa 2000s. This charming image, captured in Winter, is of an narrow country lane with high banks dotted with ivy cloaked trees.

Condition: This painting is in excellent condition. Ian Pethers usually signs and dates the reverse but as the painting has not been removed from its frame we are unable to confirm this. It is presented in a pale natural wood frame which is in very good condition.

Biography: Ian Pethers was born in 1956 in London and took to painting at an early stage. His first major work was ‘Unloading Coal in Romney Lock’, which was exhibited and sold at the Royal Society of Marine Artists’ Exhibition in the Mall Gallery in 1985. In 1989 he was elected a member of the Society of Botanical Artists.
He moved to Cornwall in 1990 and has since illustrated several national hotel guides, designed book covers and has designed posters and maps for the local railway network.
In 2003 Ian was elected a member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters and has won two awards for his miniature paintings of woodlands and Cornish mining relics.
His work is sold in a number of Cornwall based art galleries where individual pictures typically sell in the £250 to £400 range.
