Description

A pair of Art Deco matt green glazed small dinner plates with concentric bands to the rim designed by Tom Wedgwood and John Goodwin for Wedgwood, circa 1930s. Factory impressed and stamped marks to the base.

These plates are the result of a successful collaboration between Norman Wilson who, as Wedgwood's production manager, was responsible for developing new glazes, including this innovative matt green glaze, and Clement Tom Wedgwood and John E. Goodwin who created the modernist annular shape based on early 20th century industrial design.

Though stamped 'Matt Green' on the reverse of the right-hand plate this is a lighter coloured glaze than is typically encountered. We have a further two plates of this size in this colourway.
