Description

A good collection of early to mid 19th century plaster intaglios of busts of classical figures acquired during the Grand Tour and presented within a 20th century gilded frame. The indigo velvet covered backing board provides an excellent background to the white plaster intaglios, the edges of which are protected by a strip of cardboard bearing a hand-written number in ink (see photo looking down at the edges). Probably purchased loose in trays by the original owner, these intaglios were subsequently framed in second half of 20th century and hung on a wall. Eye-screws and brass wire are provided on the reverse.
