Description

A beautifully cast Japanese bronze vase decorated with two tigers, Meiji Period circa 1900. The tigers are naturalistically cast in relief their heads, striped bodies, clawed paws and long tails all finely modelled.

The signature of the artist on the base appears to read 眠虎 'Minko'. Literal translation is 'sleeping tiger' but this might be just a coincidence and not a reference to the scene depicted as these tigers are certainly not asleep.

Dimensions: Height 27.5 cm x Diameter 12 cm

Weight: 1.36 kg

Condition: Good antique condition with minor dints mostly on the plain reverse side. The areas decorated with the tigers seems to be relatively free of any marks or dints.

Postage & packing: £8 within the UK. Please contact David for a postal quote if you would like the vase sent overseas.
