17th Century & Later Diminutive English Oak Coffer

Description

An attractive 17th century English oak plank coffer of diminutive proportions which was probably adapted from a bible box in 19th century. The front with its original lock plate is decorated with deeply carved lunettes and spandrels. The top with chip carved edges to the narrow sides opens on its original iron hinges to reveal a small but useful storage space. The whole is raised on shaped bracket feet which were probably added in 19th century.

Dimensions: Width 60.5 x Depth 28 x Height 43 cm

Condition: This coffer has been gently cleaned and waxed in our workshop. It is in very good antique condition with a fine patina and some marks commensurate with its considerable age.

Postage & packing: It is of a size, shape and weight that can be packaged, boxed and sent by Royal Mail or another carrier to a UK address for £20. Please contact David if you would like a postal quote if you reside overseas.

We have a trusted delivery man who is a experienced in transporting antiques, pictures and fragile items. He can deliver to most places on mainland England and Wales and, depending on where he is on his schedule, it may take a few days or up to 4 weeks. Other couriers are available for Scotland and North Wales or where a shorter time frame is required. Purchases can also be collected in person from the Tunbridge Wells area in SE England.
