Description

This is an exquisite Regency style table top cabinet with two doors which open to reveal two short and three long graduated drawers standing on splayed bracket feet. It is made of tulipwood with kingwood cross-banding and boxwood lines on top and door fronts and boxwood edging throughout including the drawer partitions. The drawers are fitted with brass drop handles, two in the case of the long drawers, and are lined with cedar. The quality of the cabinet work is of the highest order and may have been a one-off order as we have not come across anything quite like this before. Though very much in the Georgian/Regency style we believe that this cabinet dates from the revival of this style at the end of the Victorian and into the Edwardian period, circa 1900. The exterior has a more yellowish tint compared to the more reddish interior which has had less exposure to sunlight.

Condition: This cabinet is in excellent antique condition. The key doesn't turn the lock but is required to pull the door open. All drawers fit snugly and slide in and out with ease.
