Anglo-Indian Carved Padauk Campaign Folding Table
Description
This is a stunning and rare 19th century Anglo-Indian padauk campaign folding table with carved frieze, legs and stretchers. The top with its attractive figuring slots into position on the base creating a very rigid and stable table. A trailing vine design covers the frieze and stretchers while the rectangular section legs bear repeating floral inspired motifs. This table was probably used for open air or tented events during the British Raj perhaps for presenting trophies or displaying food in silver dishes. Both the top and base can be folded and stored when not in use.
This table can be used as a permanent fixture in the home as a centre or side table though for the latter bear in mind that it is deeper than a typical side table. Alternatively, it can be used, as it was perhaps originally intended, for presenting food and drinks at garden parties.
