Description

This is an attractive sarcophagus shaped boxwood and ebony lined burr yew box with its original marble lined interior standing on small spherical brass feet. The lid is further decorated with kingwood cross banding, the front with a diamond-shape bone escutcheon and the sides with gilt metal lion's head handles.

This box would make an attractive jewellery box for a ladies dressing table or a decorative storage container for the living room.

Condition: The box is in good antique condition. There is a small repair with hard wax on the lip of the lid just to the left of the escutcheon which is hardly noticeable. It lacks a key.
