Description

This is a late 19th century or early 20th century Chinese carved low table with three drawers which has been lacquered at a later date. Though of rustic/distressed appearance it possesses some attractive detailing including the fluted edge to the top, the patterned cast iron cup handles to the drawers and the carved and pierced frieze.

Being of small proportions this table would make a lovely coffee or drinks table where space in a living room is at a premium, while the three drawers provide useful storage space for coasters, napkins etc.

Condition: This table is in very good antique condition. It is marked throughout though in its relative recent history (probably prior to export to the West in the late 20th century) it has received a coat of red-brown lacquer with an attractive tonal variation, worn areas being much paler than those that are inset and have been protected from wear.
