Description

This is a delightful antique signed watercolour on paper of a young Japanese woman in traditional kimono holding a fan with two swords tucked into her belt. The servant standing behind her carrying a folded canvas structure with poles on her shoulder is dressed in simple drab clothes which contrast with the highly decorative kimono of the main character.

Condition: The watercolour is in fine antique condition. The reverse is uniformly discoloured with the exception of two dark horizontal lines which may have been caused by light penetrating joins in a backboard from when it was previously framed. These lines have not penetrated the front surface.
