Description

This is a beautiful Georgian Chippendale style camel back 3 seater sofa upholstered in burgundy chenille, in good condition, late 19th to early 20th century.

The sofa stands on three short ball and claw mahogany legs with acanthus leaf detail and two splayed rectangular cross-section legs at the back. A gadroon-carved apron is the only other element of the frame on display, the rest being hidden beneath fabric and padding.

Upholstered in a burgundy chenille a few years ago, the fabric is in very good condition with little evidence of wear, the only observable wear being on the back at the top where the sofa was up against a wall (which has compressed the material). The three feather filled cushions come with zips so the covers can be washed or the filling changed without too much difficulty. They rest on a sprung base.

The sofa is well constructed with all joints firm and is ready to place in your home.
