16th century French carving of a naked figure

Description
This is a charming oval-shaped, carved oak panel in relief of a reclining naked female figure in an outdoor setting. It was taken from a chateau near Caen in Normandy, France and is reputedly 16th century in age.The legs and head are carved in profile while the torso and arms are turned towards the viewer. The body appears to be reclining on stylised rocks which are also in relief. Plants and flowers are carved into the surface around the figure. The panel is lens-shaped with a flat back.

Condition: The panel is in very good condition with good colour and patina. There is evidence of old woodworm activity.
