Description

This is a fine quality engraved brass, tray top table on a turned, 6 leg base which folds flat, Indian late 19th century.

The circular dish-shaped top is beautifully engraved all over with figures and animals separated by trailing foliage. Buddha occupies the central location, sitting in the lotus position on a lotus leaf, while three lions support a shield at each of the four points of the compass.

The folding six leg base is turned from hardwood with each pair of legs connected by turned stretchers separated by panels of interconnecting spindles.

With 6 contact points between base and top, the table forms a stable surface and would make an excellent coffee or occasional table. The top lifts off and the base folds for easy storage when not in use.

Dimensions: Height 52 cm, Diameter 59 cm (H 20 1/2" x D 23")
