Description

This is a fine Black Forest carved wood glove box c.1890. Rectangular in shape, the box is beautifully carved with a wood grain pattern and two straps with a spray of flowers, leaves and berries in high relief on the lid. The box opens on two hinges to reveal a blue velvet interior. The box is most probably made of Linden wood (Lime) which was the preferred choice of the Swiss carver due to its lack of grain and low density.

Dimensions: Width 21 cm, Depth 11 cm, Height 6 cm
Weight 312 g

Condition: The box is in good antique condition with the exception of a missing piece of the strap on the lid at the back of the box. One leaf and one petal on the central spray may have lost their tips but none of these are obvious and the box displays very well.

Postage & packing: £6.50 within the UK
