This is a fine 18th Century mahogany kneehole desk in untouched original condition, circa 1780.

The solid mahogany rectangular top with carved edge sits above one long and two sets of 3 graduated oak lined drawers with original brass swan neck handles, hinged cupboard door with decorative escutcheon (also believed to be original) at the centre within the kneehole with fretwork brackets to each corner, carved canted angles to the sides and supported on shaped bracket feet.

Condition: This desk has a lovely mahogany colour and patina and is in overall good condition. There is a shrinkage crack on the top which extends 31 cm from the left edge which has been filled and the lock in the top drawer is missing. A modern key has been adapted for the cupboard door. This would make an ideal dressing table or desk for the bedroom.
