Description

This is a stunning quality burr walnut music cabinet dating from circa 1890 which is in fine original condition. The very best veneers have been used throughout. The top has book-matched veneers with a very prominent burr and a veneered gallery along the back edge. There is a single glazed door which opens to reveal four shelves above two shaped dividers. Even the shelf edges are veneered to match the exterior veneers. The veneers on the side have a stripy figuring but are as equally as dramatic as the front and top. The brass hinges and escutcheon are also very decorative. The whole stands on bracket feet with a narrow straight-edged apron. As a further indication of the quality the back is panelled in well-finished mahogany.

It comes with a working antique key.

Condition: The cabinet is in very good original condition with a few marks commensurate with its age, and has been waxed and buffed ready to fit in your home. There is the odd scratch, a veneer blister on top and a small piece of missing veneer on the right side front edge just below the key which are hardly noticeable.
