Description

This is a handsome French rectangular gilt wood & plaster framed mirror in good condition dating from the 19th Century.

It has a wide 4" frame containing an olive leaf and berry outer border, a central band decorated with alternating stripes of matt and gloss gilding and a beaded and moulded inner border.

The mirror has been set up to hang in the portrait position though the eye screws and rope can be changed if landscape is preferred.

Size: 31" high x 25" wide x 2 3/4" thick (79 x 63 x 7 cm). This is a heavy mirror.

Condition: The face of the frame is in very good condition with all its original gilding. Only one small bead is missing from the beaded element of the moulding. The sides and corners, which are a little knocked, have been touched up here and there with gold leaf paint, and the joints reinforced with nails. The mirror glass is in excellent condition and is clearly a 20th Century replacement. The hardboard back probably dates from when the glass was replaced.

Delivery: This mirror can be delivered to anywhere on mainland England and most of Wales by my trusted delivery man for £45.
