Description

An early 19th century oval shaped coquilla nut snuff box with a charming naïve carved design of a cornucopia of flowers on top. The base has a band of leaf swags and rosettes surrounding a central oval with a geometric design. The box has an attractive pale colour and patina.

Dimensions: 7cm width x 4 cm depth x 2.7 cm height

Condition: There is a repair to the base but no losses. The hinge works fine and the lid closes but it is not a snug fit. The lid was deliberately cut narrower on the hinge side so that it can lift easily to a 90 degree position. The repair to the base has been taken into account in the pricing.
