Gents Omega Constellation chronometer auto watch

Description
Gents Omega Constellation chronometer automatic wrist watch, 1968.The watch has a 24 jewel automatic movement, calibre 565, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 26,409,947 which dates it back to 1968.
The tonneau shaped case measures 35mm wide excluding the later winding crown, and 33mm high excluding the lugs. The case is gold capped. The case is gold capped which means a generous layer of 14k gold has been applied to the front and sides of the case and the bezel is solid 14k gold. It was said that the gold capping was so thick that it could hold its shape when not fitted to the case and apparently the salesman used to carry a sample of just the gold capping to demonstrate how strong it was.
The screw-on case back is stainless steel with a gold medallion to the centre depicting the Geneva Observatory and eight stars which represent Omega’s record breaking achievements with their chronometers. The inside of the case back is signed with the Omega logo, together with the case reference CD 168 017 SP which is correct for the calibre 565 movement.
The case is in good condition, some minor marks but nothing serious at all.
The Omega lens has the tiny clear Omega lens to the centre (some natural light reflection showing in the main photos).
The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, centre seconds hand and quickset date display (initially set by repeatedly pulling and pushing the crown).
A later leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
