This locket pendant was assayed (tested for gold purity) at Birmingham Assay Office in 1907.

This antique solid gold pendant locket is suspended from an enchanting 18 inch 9ct gold necklace.

The posterior surface is ornamented with a shield shaped cartouche and acanthus leaves.

The shield shape symbolises the desire to protect.

Acanthus leaves represent the desire for longevity.

The anterior surface is decorated with two forget-me-not flowers, a peony and acanthus leaves.

Forget-me-not flowers express the feelings of deep love and respect.

Peonies symbolize love, romance, prosperity and good fortune.

Both of the interior compartments are fitted with the original gold frames portrait protectors.

This antique pendant is suitable to hold two photographs, locks of hair or miniature portraits.
