Liberty & Co Glasgow Arts and Crafts Hayle of Cornwall Copper Fireside Log/Coal Box.A truly wonderful Liberty & Co Arts and Crafts planished copper fireside coal or log box of pure Glasgow School style made by J & F Pool of Hayle Cornwall.
The canted trapezoidal form box with its block shaped feet and carrying handles is decorated with Glasgow stylised seeded poppy heads and whiplash tendrils to the front and spade form strap hinges to the top, it is finished with a stylish curved opening handle.
This extremely stylish and architectural fireside box encapsulates the essence of pure Glasgow Arts and Crafts design and is an example we have not seen from this maker and is a real statement rare object.
Size: 48.5cm width x 34cm height x 35cm depth.
Date: c. 1900.
Condition: In remarkable excellent original and unused condition retaining its original patina, the liner is present and the hinges operate perfectly.
