Description

A Mid 1800’s garden bench with wrought iron faux bois ends and wood plank seat & back. The wood requires replacing, the wrought iron ends are sound and strong with lots of flaking black paint with original colours showing through. An usual and attractive item which deserves to be sympathetically restored.

The Retro Business evolved out of our love of auctions and our interest in interiors, furniture, art, textiles. We’ve been dealing for many years now. We love the clean lines, the craftsmanship and designs of the Mid 20th C but are also unable to resist the allure of ‘smart’ antique pieces, rustic country items, wonderful French gilt furniture, in fact anything that catches our eye. We’re firm believers that interiors should always be eclectic and that nothing works better than a mixture of periods in a room.
We sympathetically restore a lot of our items ourselves but in keeping with our ethos we will never ‘over restore’ or destroy a patina that has taken years to develop (i.e our French gilded items will proudly wear their signs of history but all joints will be sound & drawers will move well.)
