Description

Fine original antique oil painting of a racehorse. A bay is shown in a darkened stable, watching the viewer, a wall hay rack showing in the right hand top corner. A Victorian portrait of a racehorse, signed and named by the artist in the bottom left hand corner. It is in good condition and set in a fine wide gilded wooden frame with some signs of wear commensurate with age. Overall size is 56 cm x 51 x 8 cm.
The artist is renowned Victorian animal painter, George Paice, sought- after by the British aristocracy for commissions. Occasionally exhibiting at the Royal Academy his work was mainly in private collections until recently.
