Rare Derby Porcelain Figure Sacrifice No. 14 c.177


Description
An 18th century Derby porcelain figure, of classical theme, depicting Jason at the altar of Diana sacrificing a goat kid, the model named as Sacrifice, number 14. There is a female partner to this figure which is very rarely found. Whilst not the prettiest of subjects, it is beautifully modelled with exceptional detail of the kid and the bowl catching the blood at the base and the enamel decoration is very delicate. Patch marks to the base and incised N14, c.1775.It measures 14.5cm (5 3/4") high and 7.5cm (3") by 5.8 (2 1/4") wide.
Condition is very good there has been a chip to the top of the big toe on his right foot but no other damage, repair or restoration. Minimal handling wear.
