Description

A very nice Caughley porcelain fluted slop bowl with scalloped rim, c.1785-1790, with external "Dresden flowers" decoration in underglaze blue with the addition of gilding (likely having been outsourced to the Chamberlain factory for the gilding). The inside rim has a wide blue band with gilded bird's eye border, gilded conjoined dotted border and gilded rim. Blue 'S' mark under the base. A good size, very useful for many purposes.

It measures 15cm (fractionally under 6") wide and 7.5cm (2 7/8") high. Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. Light surface wear, mainly inside with some wear to the gilding to a flower device inside the base, rubbing to the gilding on the rim and a little here and there to the borders, very little outside.
