Staffordshire Pearlware Child's Black Printed Mug


Description
Sweet early 19th century child's pearlware mug with black printed decoration of a farmer ploughing a field on one side, a boy and his 2 siblings climbing over a gate and in the centre a small poem from Franklin's Maxims "plough deep while sluggards sleep and you shall have corn to sell and to keep". c.1830.It measures 6.5cm (2 1/2") high, 6.3cm (2 5/8") rim to rim and 9cm (3 1/2") rim to handle. Condition is fair with a hairline running part way down the front under the poem and a small scuff to the rim just to the left of it. Not other damage or repairs and surface wear is light.
