Description

A stunning and rare, Worcester porcelain vine leaf shape pickle dish, delicately painted in underglaze blue in the "pickle leaf daisy" pattern. Of particularly large size, with deep walls, and shaped serrated edge. Finely modelled leaf veins and tendrils to the underside and marked with a workman's mark. c.1758-1765.

Reference: Worcester Blue & White Porcelain, 1751-1790, Branyan, French & Sandon, section I.E.41, these dishes referred to as "leaf trays".

It measures 15cm (5 7/8") long, 13.5cm (5 1/4") wide and 5cm (2") high. A very practical size for use as a bonbon or trinket dish.

Condition is excellent with just a couple of very minor faults. There is a very small chip to the rim, mainly to the reverse, with a very fine short hairline. There are two other small chips to the underside of the rim and another very short, fine hairline, barely visible to the naked eye. Additional photos available of these areas. No other damage, repair and restoration and minimal handling wear.
