Description

Very attractive piece of Victorian Wedgwood majolica. The stand modelled as a boy satyr perched on a moulded base decorated with ivy leaves and pink flowers, holding onto the body of the piece, with a marbelled patterned plate on the top. This plate does not sit precisely level and there appears some ceramic cement in the join between the 2 parts so I think the plate has been re-attached or maybe a replacement if the original was damaged. Both pieces have impressed Wedgwood marks. The stand also has various impressed letters including a three letter series that gives a date of 1878 and painted model number M2650.

It measures 20cm (8") high and 22.5cm (8 7/8") wide across the plate. The figure base is 14cm (5 1/2") by 10cm (4").

Condition is very good there is some light surface wear to the plate minimal to the rest and no damage, repair or restoration bar the attachment of the plate. This join has been done well and very neatly.
