Description

Fabulous large first period Worcester pedestal sauceboat decorated in polychrome enamels, c.1765. A basketweave texture covers the body bar some smooth cartouches either side and to the front each with a a moulded frame of scrolls and arabesques. Garden flowers are painted in each and the mouldings over painted as a frame in puce and gilding. Lovely moulded detail to the foot and incurved rim also overpainted with puce and leaf mouldings around the spout picked out in green. Inside, further flowers are dotted about.

It measures 12cm (4 3/4") high, 21cm (8 1/4") spout to handle and 10cm (4") wide.

Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration and only minor handling wear.
