A rare 1930s Modernist walnut veneer two-tier occasional table, designed by J.P. Hully for P.E. Gane Ltd (Bristol).

With beautifully figured book-matched veneer to the top and under tier, with rounded corners, raised on four oblong section supports with angled tops.

P.E. Gane ivorine label to underside.

J. P. Hully was the resident designer at P.E. Gane & Co. Ltd. His time there overlapped with that of Marcel Breuer, the pre-eminent Bauhaus designer.

Prior to his time at Gane’s, Hully designed for both Gillows of Lancaster and Bath Cabinet Makers.
