The First Steeple Chase Aquatints - Plates I-IV 1839

SET OF FOUR (4) hand coloured aquatints,  The First Steeple Chase, plates I to IV drawn by Henry Alken engraved by John Harris III and published by Ben Brooks in 1839.
Priced to sell as a set of 4.  Professionally re-framed.

Set of 4 engravings titled The First Steeple Chase On Record, drawn by H. Alken, engraved by J. Harris and published by Ben Brooks 1st March 1839 at his Eclipse Sporting Gallery, 48 High street, Oxford.

The four numbered plates are all titled and annotated:

Plate 1. Ipswich, the watering place behind the barracks

Plate 2. The large field near Biles's corner

Plate 3. The last field near Nacton Heath

Plate 4. Nacton Church & Village

All have been professionally mounted and re-framed (mounts, glass, traditional reeded wooden frames with gilt inner).

The pictures are all in a good antique condition with some foxing and marks commensurate with age but this simply adds to the character and history of these beautiful pictures.  The colour in these aquatints is still strong and bright.

These would make a wonderful collectors piece or gift.
