Description

A remarkably detailed cream jug depicting the twelve signs of the zodiac. Each sign is set in a separate panel to resemble a Romano-Greek frieze. The exquisite repoussee work comes from the makers Henry John Lias and James Wakely. This beautiful jug is stamped London in 1883-4 in cycle XXI. It is gilded on the inside and the base and handle have lovely chasing. It is a riot of beautiful craftsmanship. There are two very minor bends out of true around the body of the jug, but it is impossible to photograph them as they are not sufficient to call bruises, but are mentioned for completeness of description.

We are delighted to post nationally using RMSD and internationally with appropriate customs and excise forms and insurance. Please contact us for actual cost.
