Description

This is a very good Victorian three door mahogany wardrobe in a rich dark mahogany and featuring boldly carved flowers and berries to the top of each door. We think this is early Victorian rather than later.

It has a moulded cornice above three doors and stands on a plinth base. The doors are fitted with amber glass handles and locks to the right and centre door, each working with a different key. The left door has catches to the top and bottom. The mirror to the central door has developed an antique sparkle.

The center door opens to reveal plenty of storage space with three sliding linen trays, an open shelf and three graduated drawers below. The drawers have turned wooden handles and needless to say the drawers and trays have dovetail joins. The side sections each have a hanging bar and hooks with a drawer below. The right section has been painted in a cream gloss and part papered over.

CONDITION

This is in good condition for its age and has a lovely rich colour & patina. The mirror has some spots (as well as the sparkle). The following are not very large or noticeable but I will mention anyway, there is some veneer loss to the bottom of the left & right sides and a knock out the lower left corner edge. There are some dents to the top right of the centre door and a knock out the moulding and drying lines to the veneer on the side doors. There are also old dark marks to the sides.
