Description

A set of twenty-six mid-Victorian oak and leather boardroom dining chairs, c.1860
Manner of Gillows

This is a very rare set of superb quality large boardroom, library or dining armchairs in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster. In solid oak the padded and sprung seat, back and arms are upholstered in a fine red coloured hide trimmed with brass studs. If you want to furnish your boardroom or dining room in good timeless luxurious style then these are a must.

Each chair has an arched back and the wide arms have five turned supports, the front legs are also turned whilst the tapered rear legs sweep backwards.

Also, it must be said that these chairs are extremely comfortable even when sitting for an extended period. The deep padded seat and back makes them ideal not only for impressing corporate heavy weights, but also for the larger or older person in need of a strong, well made, spacious and comfortable chair.

This is probably a nearly unique opportunity to purchase such a large original set.
