French shaped footstool or pouffe on turned polished legs and with a good spring seat, circa 1920 with vintage upholstery
This stool would have originally fitted against one of the matching French armchairs, the curved matching that of the armchair...so you could add the stool to an armchair and re upholster the whole lot together
