Description

Wow! I could use any number of superlatives and emotion-grabbing adjectives to describe this classic and genuine, period Art Deco bracelet. None of them would do it justice.

The bracelet comprises mine-cut diamonds with baguette cut sapphire accents. The principal oval diamond measures about 8x6mm and sits between three round-cut diamonds to either side measuring from 3 to 4.5mm diameter. These are complemented by a further 80 diamonds. At the edges of the bracelet are rectangular sapphire accents set with a total of 20 baguette-cut sapphires - mainly in pairs. The gem-set portion of the bracelet consists of nine articulated sections. To each side are three further open rectangular articulations plus clasp. The setting is silver - perhaps surprising in today's world, but not unusual for fine diamond jewellery of this period. Bayonet clasp with foldover figure-of-eight safety catch. About 1930 - probably English.

I'm not going to try to estimate the diamond weights, as old-cut stones are not as standard as modern cuts. However, a single, modern, oval-cut diamond the same as the central diamond alone would weigh about 1¼ carats. Overall length 18.5 cm. Width 2cm

The piece is presented in a fitted period box from a Brighton jeweller.

Excellent condition for age and use. There is nothing material that detracts from aesthetics or function. The observations below are intended for completeness and transparency. See photos. All stones are present. The clasp and safety catch are secure and work easily. There is natural wear consistent with age and use. The last small articulation on one side of the gem-set section does not flex.

I trade in small silver, jewellery and objets d'art. I sell primarily at antiques fairs and in cabinets in Christique Antique Centre in Dorking. I try to find unusual and interesting stock and like to keep turning it over, so I can buy more. Postage and packing are free within the UK - unless explicitly stated otherwise. All fine jewellery will be supplied with a box. If the box/case is described in the text, it will be the one photographed, but may not be if it is not mentioned explicitly. I keep hardly any stock at home, if you want to buy something and need it urgently, I will usually do it the next day, but it may take me some time to respond if you need extra photographs and/or details about the piece that I do not have to hand, as I typically visit the antiques centre just once a week. If you don't see what you're looking for - feel free to send an enquiry via the site. I have only been able to list a portion of my stock.

I will always mention anything that materially affects the aesthetic or function of a piece, but will not attempt to describe what I consider to be normal for age and use. Please use the photographs as well as you can and I’m always happy to answer specific questions.
