Beautiful and unique piece of jewellery - set with good-sized diamonds.

This fabulous brooch is generously set with diamonds, rubies, emeralds and pearls. Unusually In the form of a dragonfly, the design is built around three good sized diamonds - a central yellow diamond (ca 5x5mm) and a pear-cut diamond at the end of each lower wing. (6x5mm). I would expect that each of these diamonds is of at least ½ carat, altohugh It is difficult to estimate accurately the weight of older cut stones. The setting is unmarked high-carat white gold with a pin and rollover clasp of the same material. From the design of the piece and the cut of the stones, I would date it to around 1930. Wingspan 52mm, 9.9g.

The piece in excellent usable condition. The observations below are intended for completeness and transparency. There is nothing material that detracts from aesthetics or function. See photos. The stones have been selected for the aesthetic of the brooch, rather than their individual quality or match to each other. Some are rubbed and have minor surface issues. There is a hairline crack to the cabochon ruby in the trunk.

I trade in small silver, jewellery and objets d'art. I sell primarily at antiques fairs and in cabinets in Christique Antique Centre in Dorking. I try to find unusual and interesting stock and like to keep turning it over, so I can buy more. Postage and packing are free within the UK - unless explicitly stated otherwise. All fine jewellery will be supplied with a box. If the box/case is described in the text, it will be the one photographed, but may not be if it is not mentioned explicitly. I keep hardly any stock at home, if you want to buy something and need it urgently, I will usually do it the next day, but it may take me some time to respond if you need extra photographs and/or details about the piece that I do not have to hand, as I typically visit the antiques centre just once a week.
