Description

We are delighted to offer for auction this absolutely stunning watercolour/pastel by the British wildlife artist PETER JEPSON, who has signed the painting just under the leopard's head and dated it 1998. The painting has been executed in the artist's individual technique of using watercolour and pastel to create an almost 3D image of the leopard, which almost leaps off the page! The fur looks so realistic you could almost touch it. To see further examples of his work, please look on google

PETER JEPSON, who was born in North West London in 1936, took up painting after his National Service as a hobby and it became his life. He eventually became a full time painter and his subjects were an eclectic mix painted exclusively in oil. He then developed this mixed media technique using pastel and watercolours and turned to wildlife painting.

He had a one man exhibition in New York in 1993 and subsequently had some good sales of his paintings at Christies in London. He was selected a Member of the British Society of Painters in 1990, and is a Fellow of the Society of Artists.

Auction results achieved for his work in recent years may be found at artprice.com (19 listings), findartinfo.com (15), artnet.com (6) and askart.com (1).

The painting has been double mounted in two tone to complement and is framed in a 3/4" gilt frame. It is ready to hang.
