Description

This is a wonderfully tranquil marine/nautical/seascape by the renowned Spanish artist Enrique Florido Bernils, who has signed the painting with his typical 'Florido' signature in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts two sailing vessels, one with its sails furled and one unfurled, with a passing steam coaster. There are several small boats either moored or leaving the rust coloured ship in the centre of the painting. Part of the extensive Spanish coast line is visible in the background with its typical white houses.

Enrique Florido Bernils 1873-1929, was a Spanish artist who lived in Malaga and painted almost exclusively in oils. His favourite subject was marines and coastal seascapes, many featuring Malaga. Other than this, we have been unable to find much biographical information about his life.

His paintings, however, do achieve high prices and there are 58 recent auction results achieved for his work on artprice. He is also listed at arcadja (14) and findartinfo.

The painting has been newly framed in a 3 1/2" gilt frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
