We are delighted to offer for sale this superb, Pre-Raphaelite oil painting on chamferred mahogany panel, which is, unfortunately, unsigned. The painting depicts a beautiful girl with long golden brown hair in the forest. She is seated on the roots of a tree fastening her jewelled belt. She is wearing a mesh and beaded juliet cap on her hair and her dress has jewels around the neck, down the front, around the wrist bands and scattered over the body of the dress. A crimson cloak is fastened to her shoulders. She is looking to her right as though she has heard something or is expecting someone.

This is a little gem of a painting and has been executed with a stippling technique, particularly over the dress, which gives it texture. It is a great shame that the artist has not signed their work, either on the front or on the back, so we cannot give them the acclaim that their work deserves.

The painting was purchased unframed, so the 3" frame is new and the painting will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Condition Excellent condition. There is no craquelure or paint loss and the surface is clean. The 1/4" thick mahogany panel is in perfect condition. The frame is new.
