We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely oil on canvas by the artist Walter Robin Jennings, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner and dated it 1974. The painting depicts a tranquil rural scene in autumn, with the trees almost leafless, the fallen leaves on the ground and in the edge of the still waters of the lake. There is a group of mallards flying above the surface of the water.

The painting bears a Frost and Reed label to the back of the stretcher, which shows that the painting was originally on sale for 450 guineas and also bears its title.

Walter Robin Jennings 1927-2005 was born in Dudley, Staffordshire and was an active artist throughout most of his working life. He was a landscape and animal painter, primarily in oil and exhibited widely. His work has been reproduced in card form by Medici, Royle and Solomon & Whitehead. He sadly died in Kiderminster in 2005.

There is one of his paintings in the National Collection and can be viewed at Dudley Museum.

The painting is framed in a 4" gilt frame with pale green velvet slip and inner mahogany slip and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Condition Excellent. There are no repairs to the canvas, which is clean and taut. There is no paint loss, craquelure or stretcher marks. The frame is in excellent condition.
