We are offering for sale this very well executed oval pastel head and shoulders portrait by the artist Marion Walton, who has signed the pastel on the right hand side and dated it 1882. The portrait depicts a young gentleman, probably in his teens, wearing a black jacket with matching waistcoat, white shirt and black tie.

Marion Walton was a Victorian artist, who is listed in The Dictionary of British Artists (Collectors'Club) as living in Brunswick Square, Holborn, London. She exhibited 1 work at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool in 1888. Other than this, we have been unable to find any other biographical details about her.

The pastel has been newly double mounted in gilt acid free mountboard and is newly framed in a 2" black and gilt frame to suit. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
