We are pleased to offer for sale this wonderful portrait oil painting on canvas but an unknown artist. The portrait depicts a gentleman with fair/ginger hair, sporting a luxuriant red beard, examing an oriental vase under a very strong light from above, which has turned his hair blonde. The light is illuminating his hair, the upper part of his face, his hand and the left side of the oriental vase.

This is a little gem of a painting and has been executed in masteful fashion. It is a great shame that the artist did not sign his work, as we have no clues to his or her identity.

The painting is framed in its original gilt frame and slip and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Medium Oils on canvas

Condition Very good condition. There are no repairs to the canvas, which is clean and taut. There is craqueleure consistent with age, but no paint loss or stretcher marks. The original frame is in good condition with some cracking, typical wear to the gilding along the bottom showing the red gesso underneath and minor repairs consistent with age, but no losses.
